De Bruyne has not played since August and has been beset by niggling injuries

The Belgian winger has been out of action since sustaining an injury in August, and has been plagued by niggling injuries since then. As a result, he has only made two appearances for Manchester City this season.

As of September 2020, Kevin De Bruyne is injured and will likely be out for at least three months.

Why was De Bruyne taken off today?

It’s great to see that De Bruyne is feeling fit enough to play, but it’s understandable that Guardiola doesn’t want to risk further injury by putting him on the bench. Hopefully he’ll be back to full fitness soon!
